Greensky Bluegrass & Leftover Salmon @ Mercury Ballroom 09.15.16

Earlier this month, bluegrass fans were faced with a tough decision: whether to see Leftover Salmon or Greensky Bluegrass, both playing the same night at different venues in Louisville.  However, rather than compete with one another, the bands decided to merge their performances, creating a match made in Kentucky bluegrass heaven. They took the stage together last night and definitely did not disappoint.

Knoxville-based, modern folk band Cereus Bright kicked off the night, energizing the crowd as Mercury Ballroom quickly filled up. When Leftover Salmon took the stage, they rocked the Ballroom with their signature bluegrass slam, making sure they'd be a tough act to follow. But Greensky Bluegrass lived up to it, even bringing Billy Strings on stage to jam with them.

The highlight of the night was the encore, when Leftover Salmon and Greensky Bluegrass joined each other on stage for five songs. The audience had been anticipating this moment ever since the combined show had been announced. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable night of bluegrass.
